ochmir is the board
game used as a metaphor for the political system of the Orthean Southlands
in Mary Gentle's books Golden Witchbreed and (to a much lesser
extent) Ancient Light. Trying to make ochmir work is
something I have been dabbling with more or less since I read the first
book.
After something like fourteen years of mithering on, I finally made a playable set of both two- and three-handed pieces about two years ago. I still have some write-up to do, which is why it still sits in this section.
workbench - I built a
workbench come jellymould at the beginning of 2004. Now the project is to finish writing
it up! I will probably publish this as an Instructable.
I ran my marathon, or at least completed it. Final time was 6:07:59, which is slow, but I walked a lot in the last third or so. I have no plans to run another one.
