This meeting was also notable for having an astounding turnout, for witnessing the first transvestite episode of a Pilgrimage, for attracting a Player from far shores (Dan), and finally for allowing Pilgims to meet the creator of York. A humbling experience for us all.

On a sadder note, this was the first meeting where there was conflict with the purveyors of alcoholic beverages with whom such a productive relationship has been fostered over the years. Despite the amount of business which had been put their way by our presence, a representative of the Cobden Arms expressed unhappiness with our conduct after an accidental breakage. We agreed to move on in an amicable way, but it undoubtedly struck an unnecessarily sour note to end the day. I doubt we shall return to that venue.
