Not Arsenal AGAIN?
This is the whole game.
The current state of play is:
- Mike: ARSENAL!
(move #1)
- Steve: Tottenham court road.
(move #2)
- :
(move #3)
- Kev: Rickmansworth (a bid to stop the game becoming tediously linear)
(move #4)
- Jonathan: West Ham (Cottee Manouvre)
(move #5)
- Rob: Goldhawk Road. (Not exactly out on a limb, but it does concentrate the play a little)
(move #6)
- Stephen(Note the p, the h, the n and the lack of even one v.: Warwick Avenue.
(move #7)
- Kev: Perivale
(move #8)
- Steve ( That's a Steve with a v, no p h or n as above): It's interesting that he should play Warwick as that's where I am but anyway back to the game. Green Park
(move #9)
- Doug: Aha, aha, aha - Hammersmith!
(move #10)
- Doug: (which nicely locks off Zones 1 and 2 - Hammersmith is on three lines, remember.
(move #11)
- Jonathan: What is so big aOh you big man. What makes you think that is so great eh? A schoolboy block. Easy to reverse with Dollis Hill.
(move #12)
- Jonathan: Followed by Dollis Hill.
(move #13)
- Jonathan: Then Dagenham and Redbridge to keep up the Cottee factor.
(move #14)
- Kev: Debden
(move #15)
- James: My Dad came from Debden. But not that one. A different one, with no tube station. Therefore I should play Thaxted. But I realise this would cause the usual outcry, so I won't. Instead..... Chigwell. (Barrington Elbow)
(move #16)
- acb: Gare du Nord (Dollis Hill twice opens continental stations)
(move #17)
- Doug: Latimer Road. It was a lock, not a block, Jonathan - check R vs Whigfield, 1968 World Championships.
(move #18)
- Kev: Blackhorse Road
(move #19)
- Steve: Southfields brings Becks coefficient down to 0.67
(move #20)
- Simon: Aha! With Beck's coefficient below 0.72, I can play Metro stations. So: Pelaw.
(move #21)
- Simes: A classic situation, as first seen in the groundbreaking Freda vs Grimsby Town championship. Clearly, there can be but one move: The triple-underhand bluff, leading obviously to Southfields.
(move #22)
- Doug: Now look - this is getting foolish. Farringdon.
(move #23)
- Kev: Quite right. Kensal Rise.
(move #24)
- Eristophanes: Stratford, I've always been quirky after Kensal Rise.
(move #25)
- Steve: Surely Mornington Crescent, unless I'm very much mistaken.
(move #26)
- Steve: (Winner's Comments) : While Gare du Nord was an inspired move, after Farringdon was played the game was weakened. However an excellent game. Well done all players and Thank You.
(move #27)
- Simon: STRATFORD???????????
(move #28)
- Jonathan: Incidentally, Stratford is this server's first ever -4 indexed move. A dubious honour.
(move #29)
- Eristophanes: Whoops, sometimes I'm inspired, sometimes, well, you can see for yourselves.
(move #30)
- Jonathan: Still, don't fret. The lowest move ever indexed, as far as I can tell, was by Niddry, against Tukesbury in the London Open of 1974. He played Finchley Road despite forty seven Highbury Blocks being in force, thus gaining -3 for each block, and a grand total of -141. Of course, you could argue that indexes mean little, as do the league tables they are used for, and you would have a fairly strong argument. However, while indexes remain the benchmark for world MC, they will have to stand.
(move #31)
- Alice
Alice: kp2 to kp4
(move #32)
- Tim: Very good Alice, but, I fear you may be playing the wrong game (but it's nice to see such a stong opening move)
(move #33)
- P.J.:
(move #34)
You can look at the next game (My Lord, it's Mornington Crescent for a change!),
go back to the previous game (Babylon 5 game),
or review the
list of all games.
This game is closed for further play, what with this being an archive and all.
