Thinking about titles makes me think about process in general.
As I mentioned in the last post, I used to think of a title and then try to invent an appropriate story. "The Darwinian Society" might be about the role that Darwin's theory of evolution had as the basis for a social movement, or it might be about a much more subversive element within our own culture.
My writing process now is much more based around velocity rather than intricacy - this is ever since I started doing NaNoWriMo. I will think of a plot and some characters, block out some chapter outlines, and then have at it.
A chapter outline will be very short: what major characters are involved, the initial situation, and the end point I want to reach.
Following this process has produced four and a half rough novel manuscripts. Turning them into something more is where it all falls down so far.
But that's five minutes for now.
