December 10, 2008 The Continuing Story

Word Count: 52,210

I took a week or so off from writing my NaNoWriMo novel in the first week in December. With being away from home this week I had hoped to do a lot more writing

As it happens I have so far written about 1,500 more words on Sunday and nothing since. There are two reasons for this apparently lackadaisical attitude.

Firstly, I am busier in the evenings than I had expected. The only evenings free this entire week were Sunday (which I put to good use, so hurrah for that) and Tuesday, but I was so utterly drained last night that it was all I could do to stay awake long enough to talk to Jen on the phone before I collapsed into bed.

Secondly, this is just a tiring week - lots of new things to learn and new people to talk to; far more food of a far heavier type than I usually eat; and a good deal of wandering around unfamiliar streets. It is just much more exhausting than I had expected. At least I have been able to exercise in the mornings, but that is another large chunk of time burned that I might usually use for writing.

So, I am glad to stand on around 52k, but I will probably be standing here for a while. And I still need to finish the actual story.
