This assassination chapter was not very good.

About a third of the chapters I am writing are retelling events from first version of the trilogy, and this assassination attempt was one of those. I think it is a much worse version of those events - there are aspects of it that are useful and which will probably be kept, but the actual appearance of the assassin is not as rich, his character is much more faceless.

On the one hand this is unsurprising since the same thing happened last year - some of the retold scenes were better, some of them were worse. The fun part is pulling together the strands from both versions to make a stronger whole.

I love writing. It's fun.

In terms of word count I am still basically on pace - the cushion I had before I lost my job a week ago evaporated in that cauldron of emotions. I may have an opportunity to pull things back in though. I would still expect to have 55-60k by the end of the month.
