Victory! The juniper stump is out!
It basically took digging all the way around the stump and then a bit underneath to shift the bugger. The last root was an unremarkable little thin one, and I only tried moving the trunk on the off-chance. I was rather surprised to find it movable.
Here are some pictures.
This is a partly denuded bush. I don't have any pictures to hand of the tree before we started trimming it, but it was about seven feet tall and protruded out over the pavement. The branches in the foreground are some of the canopy that has been removed. |
A bare trunk. I have tried to include the same area of background as with the first picture, but the angle is different so it doesn't look quite right. This is before I started hacking at the roots, but that would have made for uninteresting pictures. |
The stump. Available for firewood. |
We can now see out of our front window - quite the novelty!
