Well, it's not quite as polished as I would like, but it does seem to work - comments are re-enabled.
The process now is that you have to answer a question before being offered the comment form. The question popup is the wrong size, and some of the text links are poorly worded, but it is possible to post a comment here again.
Thanks again to matt for his help in plugging in the authentication.

You're welcome. And welcome back :)
(I see you're still blacklisting URLs, which makes the URL field a little misleading, but it's not a big deal.)
Thanks for the reminder - I have removed that exclusion.
I also took the opportunity to do some of the cleaning up I mentioned in the post. Good enough, I think.
*posting a comment only so I can see what the question is*
...and I must say, that was ENTIRELY worth clicking through to. I about fell over from lack of air, I was laughing so hard. But I can't decide: is it that you simply can't envision a Certain Sort of Person ever wanting to post here, or do you not really believe that there are Certain Persons who would be sent into panic attacks when faced with that question?
Hello, and thanks for letting us back in :-) .
*starts graffitiing the walls (in a very artistic and caring way, of course)*
[Sanguinity] hmm - yes, perhaps the question could be reworded to be more friendly to that Certain Sort of Person. I confess that I simply lifted it wholesale from matt's implementation, but I imagine that he has no more exclusionary intent than I.
I am glad you enjoyed its comedic value as it stands. Try the failure message too.
[flerdle] Oh, it was never you that I worried about letting in... here, have some spray paint.
