Stephen Baxter

This looked interesting last time I was in Powell's browsing for science fiction, so I picked it up. I enjoyed The Time Ships (an arguably unnecessary sequel to H.G. Wells' The Time Machine) so I know he can write in a way which is engaging. Just curious what he does with his own ideas.

Update 03-May-2008 - I have made a start on this a couple of times, but have just not been able to get past the first chapter.
