Why Should I Listen To You?
Fragmented observations of a fractured lifestyle.
July 07, 2005 Boom

It's all about London this week.

I was going to post something jolly about the Olympics, but instead I find I am writing about the appalling attacks this morning on the transport network in London.

I am very relieved that people I know are OK, at least as far as I know so far.

It's a dreadful attack, but it seems to have been very well planned. Firstly, there were a lot of Metropolitan police seconded to Scotland for the G8 summit. But mainly the bombs were not simultaneous, they were sequenced.

The nastiest bit was that the last bomb, the one on the bus, was timed some time after the tube bombs so that the bus was full of passengers who hadn't been able to get on the trains. The bastards were planning to hurt as many people as possible, which is a good deal different than the IRA used to do. I do not wish to imply that the IRA bombers were warm and fluffy people, but they usually only planted one bomb at once, seemed to go more for property damage, and generally gave some kind of warning.

It's still an appalling attack.
