My phone battery is dying. It's a lithium ion battery and it's over four years old; I suppose I should not be surprised.
It's a shame. I like my phone, but the problem with lithium ion batteries is that they cost a lot to replace. At $70 for a new battery, it seems likely that it's going to be cheaper to buy a new phone.
But it is so confusing... Jen and I have a shared plan using two phones on the old CDMA technology (which was so popular among US mobile phone companies in the 90s and which led to the famous incompatibility of the American phone system). We were with AT&T, which has now been bought by Cingular, and all of the Cingular plans now which they offer with their new phones are on the GSM carrier technology (which is much more compatible with where Europe was ten years ago).
Mixing phone technologies on shared plans does not seem to be a goer, at least according to the web site.
Since Jen is quite happy with her phone (her replacement batteries are a reasonable cost for a start), this would mean splitting our plan which means we would be choosing not one but two new plans. Yay.
I suppose I shall have to go into a shop and talk to someone.
At least now I can carry my number to another carrier.
