I was stupidly sad when John Peel died last year. It's not as if he was anywhere near as much of influence on me as the much lamented Douglas Adams, but still... he was someone I thought of affectionately, and it was a shock when he died.
I was reminded rather forcefully of his absence from a question in "Round Britain Quiz", a musical question where John Peel was the link. I was delighted that I knew two parts of the question so quickly when the team whoc was supposed to be answering was so flummoxed, but I was also plunged into a brief moment of loss for Mr Peel.
