November 18, 2004 A Little Bit of Running

I've been running again.

I am nowhere near to laying down the miles I was a few weeks before the marathon, and I am clearly not in anything like marathon form, but I am now able to run three times a week without agonising IT band pain. Indeed, I finished my third run of the week a couple of hours ago and my IT band is no more noticeable than it was first thing this morning.

By accident I ran seven miles last Thursday. That is the farthest I have run since the marathon, and it felt good, at least at the time. My goal is to be able to run ten miles one a month or so. That would be good; a nice two hour run every now and then.

Probably in the New Year, now.

But the running is going better. Quite pleased about that.

Hey, glad to hear the running is improving! As one who's struggled with ITB-itis, I know how frustrating it can be. Me: 1 year+ after my first marathon and I've still not run farther than 7 miles. Ever. I trust your IT Band is in better shape than mine were and that you'll be smarter about it than I was! :)
