Why Should I Listen To You?
Fragmented observations of a fractured lifestyle.
November 09, 2004 Unexpected Deaths

Hurtling along towards 25k, the halfway point for word count; should hit that milestone tomorrow unless the wheels come off.

Which they could of course. If I have learnt any single lesson from the boring meeting experience, it is that it is very easy indeed to run into the quicksand of details.

My solution to this impasse was to skip a week in the timeline. I could feel the weight of further planning sessions pressing down upon me, so I said "Right, they've happened. What happens next?" I invented some quite neat technology to do the job, including a rework of the character's original plan, and hey banana! I have a plot bubbling away nicely and a secondary character who has become both much more interesting and also in danger of imminent death.

There's nothing to motivate a main character like having his shag murdered in front of his eyes, eh?

I am sure I will say this again, but it is just so nice to be writing regularly again. I hope I can keep up some of the momentum after this month ends.

Oh well, back to work.
