It's hard being in the midst of an election you have no say in.
I'm trying to avoid election information until tomorrow, when I get it all in one jolt. I've done the whole staying up waiting for results in a close race before, and it was no fun. This was the 1992 British general election, when the Conservatives won against all logic and reason and then proceeded to subject Britain to five years of arbitrary ideologically driven policies because they couldn't think of anything else to do. I remember getting tanked up down the pub that Thursday evening (since Thursday was pub night in any case) then coming home and watching the appalling results roll in: the Tories had won again.
Then I went to bed and had nightmares that the Tories had won the election, and I was horrified to wake up the next morning to remember that my nightmares were true.
I am deathly afraid that Bush will win again, but as I said I have no vote and so no say in the result.
The only information I have is that two Oregon proposals which should have failed have been passed: proposal 37, which will destroy much of the land use regulation in Oregon, and the utterly odious proposal 36, which modifies Oregon's constitution to ban gay marriage.
That's more than I can stand for now. I'm going to sleep now, and with any luck that monkey in a suit will be out of a job in the morning.

I hope your dreams were better this time, at least.
Oh for god's sake - I didn't read this blog yesterday and should have: I didn't realize that Oregon had passed the constitutional ammendment to ban gay marriage. Catastrophe.
What is wrong with this country!?
(And more importantly, I need to start paying closer attention...)
