August 10, 2004 The Hills Are Alive

? / 52:14 (4¼ miles)

Went a different route this morning around Hillsdale, so named because of the hills. There must be a curse on me or something because even though Zee had a map and we were both looking at it we still took a wrong turn and took an unwanted shortcut.

Good run though; running first thing is hard but it clears the rest of the day nicely.

I had hoped to post a more accurate time for the Bridge Run on Sunday, but the chip timing is broken. I forgot to stop my watch on the finish line, remembering some short time later, and it read 2:42:something. However, the results posted on racecenter.com have me finishing in 3:17:39! That's a ludicrous margin of error. I only exaggerate slightly when I say that I was at home making a cup of tea by that time.

Am I bothered about being posted as last in the race? No - as I wrote the other day, I was one of the last through the half marathon loop cutoff so I would have been surprised if I had been anywhere much else. I came in last in my age group, I know that much. I am upset that I now don't have an accurate time for my run that day.

So much for my first foray into chip timing.
