Why Should I Listen To You?
Fragmented observations of a fractured lifestyle.
August 05, 2004 A Pleasant Outing

My running schedule is all screwed up this week. I didn't run on Tuesday because my usual running partner for that day is out of town (and the rest of the day was too busy); I didn't run yesterday because I was too tired (or just mildly depressed because Jen's away - the effect is much the same); and so I was feeling a good deal of pressure to run today.

The conditions were perfect: the blistering heat of a couple of weeks ago is merely a bitter memory, and this morning was almost cool following overnight rain. I took a very enjoyable route through the nature park, and just revelled in the sights and the sounds and the smells.

It was just a lovely run.

I feel better for a couple of days rest, too. The IT band tenderness is much reduced, and although my knee is still a little sensitive there has been no persistent pain. Need to get back on top of the physio, keep on doing the stretching, and keep at the icing too.

I'm going to run again tomorrow, which would normally be a rest day but my long run is not until Sunday so it should be fine.

I will be taking it easy next week though. Sunday is the Portland Bridge Run, and I am entering to do the half marathon. The next PFit run after that on the following Saturday is the 30K benchmark, so I am planning on only running two days next week, probably Tuesday and Thursday. If I feel up to running on Monday then I will, but I suspect that a half marathon is going to take it out of me a bit.
