Why Should I Listen To You?
Fragmented observations of a fractured lifestyle.
July 28, 2004 The Story Of The Floors
Listen, dear reader, as I tell a tale of floor, their coverings and uncoverings.
the old tiled floor in the family room.
how the tiles looked in the hallway. One thing about knowing that we were going to cover these tiles up (or so we thought) was that we weren't too bothered about getting paint on them.
how the old tiles looked in the bathroom.
this is what the hallway looked like after we had lifted suspected asbestos tiles. Not very nice. The sad thing is that if we had known that the lino installer would want all of these tiles lifted then we we probably would have got rid of all of them before the building work had even started.
the bathroom without tiles.
... and without a toilet! This didn't smell half as much as we had feared.
all the old tiles, double bagged and ready to be taken to the disposal facility.
how the lino looks in the hallway. This is a vastly nicer surface to walk on than the old tile.
lino in the bathroom. The toilet is back in now, as well.
blue carpet in the office.
... and a close up so you can see the pattern.
pink carpet in the meditation room. Jen has wanted to put pink carpet in here since we saw some last summer while we were looking for carpet for the bedrooms.
green carpet in the family room.
the cats approve!
this is just the kind of detail work from the carpet installer which we missed from the lino installer.
