8 miles/4 miles (41:46)
I had suspected that I wasn't recovered from Helvetia, and this confirmed it - I was still hugely tired when I got up, and this didn't dissipate while I was getting ready to go. When I set off I felt OK, but I was only a couple of miles into it when I just had to stop and turn around - my legs felt utterly leaden. There was simply nothing there, and I couldn't see how I would be able to do eight miles.
So, I turned around and headed back since I knew that was it for the day. I did keep running all the way back, but it was very difficult to keep going which at least confirmed for me that it had been the right thing to do to turn around. I was still miserable afterwards, though - I hate abandoning like that.
On my way back to OSF I saw J (nicely on target to meet me at 3½ miles!) and Zee (doing a slightly shorter run to be nice to her ITBs). I was going to hang around and chat to folk afterwards, but I just needed to get home and wallow.
A disappointing run, but I am really glad I stopped when I did.
