I've said before that I would not be able to do intervals first thing in the morning. I now know this to be true.
We were starting painting this week, so I wanted to get out and do my run as early as possible so as to be fresh and to not disrupt the work later in the day. It was an interval day, so I decided to run down to our local high school track and do the intervals there.
The thing is that there are a lot of hills on the way to Wilson High School - it's just a hilly area - and so I was not just warmed up by the time I got to the track; I was tired. And although tracks are great for giving you a consistent environment for doing whatever it is you need to do, they are also incredibly dull to run on by yourself.
Well, I managed seven out of the ten full intervals and gave up half way through the eighth fast section. I just ran out of interest, motiviation, energy... whatever. I ran back to the house, going back up the hills I'd run down earlier, and got ready to paint instead.
It was a good run, but a disappointing interval workout.
No more intervals first thing, then, and if I do try again stick to a more interesting environment.
