June 24, 2004 Too Fast

35 mins/1:00:08 (6 miles)

It's a long time since I exercised until I felt sick.

This was the first of a reformed Thursday evening group run from a running store in NW Portland. There were a range of paces, but unfortunately most of them were faster than me! It was good to finally meet some of the names from the PFit discussion boards, though.

The hope was that AC Zee would be able to make it, but the traffic around Portland was really quite bad and she couldn't get there in time.

It was a nice route, going down from NW 23rd to the water front and back, and I managed to keep up with the faster runners for about a couple of miles, but then they dropped me and I only saw them in the far distance after that! The other runner who dropped back suffered a cramp or a stitch and had to bail early. I met up with the speedy ones at the turning point, but again...

We were supposed to meet up for burgers and beer afterwards. II popped my head around the door, but I had to go home - I just felt too ill.

Good run, but I think I may still be in recovery mode from Helvetia and it might have been a bit too much so soon. I'll be taking things a lot easier on Saturday.
