There was a lot of sanding going on yesterday, and a lot of electrical.
In Visiting Brazil, I talked about the huge variety of plugs and sockets in the US. This is another one: the three pin 220V plug we had before would not meet code. Code now says it must be a four pin plug, and since this is technically a new socket...
... and this is the four prong plug which fits.
This is the laundry wall in all its glory - the drier vent and the new vent fan both exhaust to the same spot on the side of the house.
The lights! In the meditation room! They work! As I mentioned before, the positioning of these lights ended up being driven more by what else was in the ceiling than by where we wanted them to actually be. It's well lit, though.
In the bathroom, the ceiling light is now in and the ducting has been smoothed off. Final sanding happens on Friday.
This is what the electrical panel looked like on Wednesday. It didn't look this bad before all of this started, but it needed replacing in any case because breakers had started to wear out, and there was corrosion inside it from an earlier misinstallation.
Nice new electrical panel, all shiny and clean. We spent quite a lot of last night figuring out whether the contracted circuits had been installed (which, for the most part, they had been) and generally farting around with this. By contrast, my parents have just replaced their old fuse box, which was apparently installed in the 1930s when their house was first electrified.
... but that's almost it! Friday is the last planned day of primary work, then Saturday will be any punch list items and final cleanup.
We're so pleased.
At this point I feel like I do when I land at an airport; not home yet, but at least able to walk there in a pinch.
