May 18, 2004 Holey Floor, Batman!

Lots of careful skimming of walls went on during day seven of this project, but the most significant thing is that we now have a couple of quite large holes in the floor.

This is the relocated waste pipe for the washing machine and utility sink. You can see the originally planned route where the contractor carefully lifted the tiles to reveal the black mastic holding them down, but the plumber went off at a bit of an angle!
It's a submarine periscope! Or maybe it's just the plumbing for the bath...
Inside the hole.
The bathroom sink has gone, too. This is going to be replaced by an integrated sink and cabinet thingy, which we found first and whose handle dictated the finish on all the taps.
There is now a bollard protecting the furnace from marauding cars. This obviously isn't centrally located; the other side is protected by the pillar which is holding up the garage roof!
This is the bath out of its crate. The plan is to put it in on top of the submarine on Wednesday or so.

Next job: filling in the holes!

At some point we're getting a new electrical panel in too, but that is an interesting bit of scheduling because of course while the electrician is doing that nobody else can do anything...
