May 17, 2004 Starting Too Fast

45 mins/56:55 (5½ miles)

I went too far today, really, but it was a beautiful day and it was very easy for my enthusiasm to overtake common sense. Also, there isn't a nice 4½ mile route that I've found yet.

A far bigger mistake was setting off too fast after doing some weights this morning. The overall time for the distance was reasonable, especially with road crossings figured in, but the second half was much slower. So much for negative splits.

The speed work starts tomorrow. That'll be interesting.
