April 22, 2004 Bid Decision

The questions we had on the leading bid for the downstairs work were answered to our satisfaction, and we're ready to roll. Actually, our contractor can start sooner than we can!

I'll post a more complete description of the work we're doing soon, but the first part of the job is moving the furnace. This sounds horrendous, but the furnace location is not being moved far (just a few feet) and is not a matter of moving an existing furnace so much as removing a broken furnace and installing a new one somewhere else.

We had thought that we could just clear out the parts of the downstairs which would be directly be affected by the furnace move, but the way the project is going to be phased we need to clear out everything before anything begins. This is why we're not ready to start - the suggested date to start work was 4th May, but Jen is going to be away for half this next weekend and all of the weekend after that and there is just too much for me to do on my own.

So, the work is targetted to begin on 11th May, and we're going to be tremendously busy over the next few weeks planning and moving stuff.

At some point we'll be signing a contract, too.

We're very excited about all this, but it's pretty intense!
