Of course I am adding entries on all my running over the last few days in a job lot on a Tuesday, then fudging the entry dates. Cheating, I know, but I would like the date to match the day I actually ran (or otherwise) since otherwise it's too hard to keep track.

Oh my gosh! I did an AOL search for "poked in eye, still hurts" and the first thing that came up on the search list was a link to your post from last year (April, 03) about getting poked in the eye. The way you described the waking up in the morning and having your eye hurt like hell is exactly what I've been going through. It HURTS!!! But, when I remember to put Refresh Plus nighttime ointment in my eye before I fall asleep at night, I'm guaranteed to wake up with no pain. Just a bunch of vaseline kind of stuff all over my eyelashes......hey, I'll take that anyday! Anyway, has your pain gone away??? How long does this stupid problem last? By the way, my 4 year old daughter poked me in the eye (not as good a story as your tile story) so friggin' hard I thought I'd been blinded for life in that instant. It, too, was excruciatingly painful.
Thanks for the hint about Refresh Plus - I'll try that.
I do still get occasional pain. I don't get a really bad eye day very often now (every other month, maybe?) but I still need to be careful when I wake up to unstick my eye carefully. This is almost two years on, but the worst was over in six months.
Your case might not be so severe, if you're lucky. Concrete is caustic, which made the abrasions worse than they might have been.
Hope your eye feels better soon!
