April 16, 2004 The Birds

This weekend's project will be attaching bird paraphernalia to our deck.

We already have two sunflower seed feeders on hooks in the garden, a couple of strategically placed humming bird feeders dangling from the eaves, a woodpecker feeder hanging by a long hook from a tree (a woodpecker feeder which the squirrels have already managed to bring down - there were squirrel claw gouge marks in the suet block), and a couple of chickadee bird houses attached to trees, but we still a few things that need screwing to the deck. Because the deck is at first floor level (in the British sense) this means getting out the ladder.

So some time tomorrow afternoon we will be attaching a new bird bath complete with dripper (keeps the water fresh), a seed tray (ground feeders like their millet laid out flat on something), and a couple of hooks for other feeders (different kinds of seed). It's a lot of small things that we hope will bring birds of all kinds in to the garden

Did I mention I'm not the only toy buyer in our household?

We've got a bat box (no bats) and a bird box (family of blue tits (f'narr)). But mainly we've got tulips. I'll post a photo on "Rich Speaks" soon.
