Why Should I Listen To You?
Fragmented observations of a fractured lifestyle.
August 26, 2003 Unpacking

Having moved, we now have to unpack everything...

The four biggest areas are:

  1. kitchen - our new kitchen is larger, but there is a lot of duplication in the things we have collected; most of my kitchen stuff has been in storage since I moved in with Jen last year. We also want to try and make the organisation of the kitchen as logical as possible, but that may go out the window once we start to run out of space!
  2. office - two desks, three filing cabinets, multiple filing systems, and (perhaps) too many computers... add to this that anything we do here is temporary (see the next item!) and this is going to get complicated.
  3. family room - we are both committed to pushing the television away from the main living areas upstairs, but that still makes the downstairs a complicated place. We are also planning on rearranging the downstairs to break up the large, unfriendly space into some smaller private areas including an office and a meditation room.
  4. garage - comparitively simple, but there are a lot of shelves to put together and tools to organise. We also want some electrical work doing so that there is more lighting and socketing available for project work - curiously enough, this is something which I would be completely confident about doing myself if it were UK wiring, but I am not comfortable with US wiring standards!
That should keep us occupied for a bit.

27-Oct-2003 - we've pretty much finished unpacking. That's not to say that there are not things to organise, of course, but there are no boxes left to empty in the main living areas. That counts as "finished" for me.
