Why Should I Listen To You?
Fragmented observations of a fractured lifestyle.
July 11, 2003 Abandoning

Much to my regret, I've realised that I will be unable to run the Portland Marathon this year.

The basic problem has been my knee injury. Because of that, I've not done any running for over three weeks now. I had to miss the Helvetia Half Marathon because the knee was just too sore (even a four mile run left me crippled) and speaking to my doctor he recommended that I not run again until my knee actually stopped hurting.

That need not have been so fatal for my marathon plans if I had actually been doing enough exercise over the last three weeks, but the house stuff has squeezed my mornings and evenings to the point where I could not do any cross training either. In retrospect, I hsould have joined the gym just up the road from work so that I could at least use their facilities and keep my aerobic conditioning going, but I didn't and now I'm in bad shape.

I will be starting to run again this weekend, but I'm going to close this marathon log because I'm not going to be following the PFit training plan any further this year.

Sometimes you just have to listen to your body when it shouts "STOP!"
