Ah, decorating... the swoosh of the sandpaper, the smell of fresh paint, the thwack of hammer on nail...
Unfortunately, paint fumes make me ill, sandpaper hurts my hands, and the nails tend to go *spoink* as they bend over at odd angles, so any pleasure I might derive from decorating is entirely negated by the discomforts and embarrassments.
We've been hard at work making our house more instantly desirable. From what I can gather, the housing market is heating up so it seems highly unlikely that we will have a problem selling, but still... there are many jobs to be done which will make the place that much more attractive and lead to buyers just falling in love with it. We hope.
Again, though, we're over-committing our time - at least over this last weekend we got a lot done so we could stand back at the and go "Aah!" instead of glancing round at the devastation and going "Grr". Doing the most obvious and important stuff helps in that regard!
Now all we have to do is sell some of our old books and have a g'raaage sale (translation: car boot without the car or the boot) to dispose of our more obviously unwanted gear so we are carrying less than three elephant-loads of encumbering stuff to our next abode. Oh, and finish the sanding, painting, and hammering.
